It’s the 1980s. Your father left you two things: his bar and his debts. Clean up by day, set the mood on the jukebox, then step behind the counter at night to mix drinks, hear out the regulars and pay off what he owed. A first-person bartending sim with a story to tell.
Long description
Under the Disco Lights is a first-person bartending sim set in the 1980s, about inheriting a bar you never asked for and learning why your father loved it.
He died suddenly, leaving you a letter, a ledger and a debt to a man called Big Billy. The collector comes every week. You have eight weeks, 56 nights, to pay off every dollar and make the bar your own.
By day, get the bar ready. Collect the glasses and load the dishwasher, wipe the tables, haul out the trash and mop the spills. Restock bottles, kegs and garnishes from the Barkeep’s Market. Then build tonight’s playlist on the jukebox: every record has a pace and a mood, and chaining them well lifts the crowd’s satisfaction and your tips.
By night, pour. Ring the bell and the orders start coming. Pick the right glass, measure with the jigger, add ice, salt the rim, shake, garnish and serve before the clock runs out. Every drink is made by hand, from a straight whiskey to a Naked and Famous, and quick-time challenges reward a steady hand. Sloppy pours, wrong recipes and slow service cost you reputation, and reputation decides how well the bar tips.
In between, listen. The regulars are the heart of the bar: your father’s oldest friend, a painter you grew up with, a rival chef, a couple who can never arrive on time, and the collector himself, who keeps ordering margaritas. They bring their news, their troubles and the occasional gift. What you say back is up to you.
